Inaugurated in 2019 and designed by Zaha Hadid architects, the Al Janoub Stadium (in Al Wakrah) was considered "due to its architecture, the most elegant of the World Cup venues" (in GuiaMundial'22JornalRECORD). With a capacity of 40.000 seats, it was built to hold some matches for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The FOCUS GROUP and its partner in Qatar, Focus Design Partners, were the companies responsible for the development of architecture and landscape architecture projects, as "Design Development Architects" in connection with the construction of the stadium, between 2017 and 2019.

Based on a previous study carried out by the office of the late Zaha Hadid, which was inspired by the sails of traditional Dhow boats, used by pearl divers in the region, meandering the currents of the Persian Gulf, FOCUS GROUP and Focus Design Partners prepared the project for execution that allowed the construction of the stadium.

After the event, its second level (modular with a wooden structure) will be dismantled and sent to different developing countries for the construction of new equipment, thus focusing on the social component and environmental sustainability.
